Government releases discussion paper - Options for Chronic and Complex Health Conditions

The Australian Government has released an options discussion paper 'Better outcomes for people living Chronic and Complex Health Conditions through Primary Health Care'.

The Minister for Health Sussan Ley said "We are committed to finding better ways to care for people with chronic and complex conditions and ensure they receive the right care, in the right place at the right time".

The Minister added "I encourage all Australian's to take part in this discussion and provide their thoughts on our primary care system as we work together to ensure it is providing the best care possible".

Feedback will be sought through an online survey which will be open from Thursday 6 August until Thursday 3 September and public consultations will be held in Sydney, Western Sydney, Dubbo, Melbourne, Geelong, Hobart, Brisbane, Cairns, Rockhampton, Adelaide, Alice Springs, Darwin, Perth and Broome.

A nationwide webcast will be hosted on Friday 21 August with participants able to log in and view the proceedings online.

This an opportunity to put forward a case for natural therapies and ANTA will be participating in the public survey, attending public meetings and the nationwide webcast.

We also encourage members to participate in the online survey (opens on 6 Aug) , public meetings (commencing 10 Aug - meeting timetable available on the above link) and webcast on the 21 August. A link to the webcast will be available on the Dept of Health website closer to the 21 Aug. Participation from as many natural therapists as possible in the above events will assist in placing natural therapies into the mix of options for treatment of chronic and complex conditions. Please pass this onto your colleagues and encourage them to participate.
