Chinese Medicine Board of Australia Announce the Publication of the Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines for Acupuncture Practice

The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (National Board) has announced the publication of the Infection prevention and control guidelines for acupuncture practice .

The media release announcement describes further information regarding the first Australia wide guideline specifically relating to acupuncture practice.

The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia (CMBA) developed the guidelines as a resource to provide information and inform practice. These guidelines apply nationally to all registered Chinese medicine practitioners in the division of acupuncture. Health practitioners from other regulated health professions, who are endorsed to practice acupuncture may find the guidelines a useful reference for acupuncture practice.

The guidelines mark an important milestone in the national regulation of the Chinese medicine profession and are an important mechanism to promote safe acupuncture practice.

The National Board has published an explanatory statement and FAQs to assist practitioners understand their obligations under the policy.
