MEDIA RELEASE: Henry Osiecki has been awarded the prestigious CHC Industry Award for Industry Excellence
Henry Osiecki has been awarded the prestigious CHC Industry Award for Industry Excellence in ‘Most Outstanding Contribution to Research, Education or Training’. Presented to Mr Osiecki at the CHC’s 2012 National Conference, this award represents the most outstanding contribution and breakthrough made by an individual in education and research for the benefit of the complementary healthcare industry.
Henry Osiecki has been an internationally recognized leader in the nutritional medicine field for over 25 years. Over the past two decades he has changed practitioners’ perception of nutritional medicine, playing a pivotal role in changing the pharmaceutical model of formulations into a nutritional one. His contribution has consistently focused on teaching physicians and other licensed healthcare providers how to successfully implement nutritional intervention into their practices. Mr Osiecki has been one of naturopathic medicine’s most prolific interpreters of nutrition-related scientific developments.
Henry Osiecki graduated from the University of Queensland in 1973 obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree (with honours). In 1976 he obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Queensland University of Technology. Mr Osiecki has worldwide experience as an author and educator. In the seventies and eighties he worked with a number of Olympians and wrote his first book ‘Food of Gods’ at this time. Over the years he has spent time as a Nutritional Columnist for the QLD newspaper, “The Courier Mail”, featured regularly on radio and TV programmes (He had his own nutritional radio program on 4BC Brisbane for a number of years). He has tirelessly appeared at seminars nationally and internationally for health professionals, written and edited publications and written educational workshops on themes ranging from Down’s syndrome, mental health and cancer, mitochondrial energy medicine and hormone imbalances. Mr Osiecki has been the Chairman for the Oceania Symposium of Complementary Medicine and an executive director of the Save the Children Fund, and panel member of the Australian Disaster Relief fund. Mr Osiecki is also the founder and Director of Bio Concepts. Founded in 1984, Bio Concepts provides interactive learning to naturopaths as well as providing practitioner-only nutritional formulas for patient care, well known under the Orthoplex and Pure Innovation ranges.
The award received is based on Mr Osiecki’s recent focus in the area of cancer which has been an accumulation of years of research with modern day cutting-edge science. He has brought together medical models and traditional therapies to form a comprehensive understanding of the biochemical processes involved in cancer development. He has expanded his theoretical constructs of cancer to include the effects of chemotherapy and surgery, nutritional guidelines for specific cancers, metastasis and cancer prevention programs. This effort is reflected in his latest book ‘Cancer: The Importance of Clinical Nutrition’ another groundbreaking educational resource for Australian and International Practitioners. This book combines a focus on cell biology with functional medicine, clinical nutrition and support, internal medicine, naturopathic medicine, pain management, orthomolecular supplementation, structural Integrity, environmental medicine and detoxification.
His other publications include "The Physician's Handbook of Clinical Nutrition", "Hypernutrition for Sport", "The Nutrient Bible" and "The Asthma Breakthrough".
Henry remains focused on his research and educational endeavours into nutritional medicine and the healthcare industry. His passion for practitioner education is ongoing whilst continually working towards future developments.
