Van Against Violence Campaign

Considerable research shows that natural therapists are an identified point for first disclosure for people in distress including after sexual assault.

The Van against Violence project funded by the Law and Justice Foundation of NSW is being rolled out by NSW Rape Crisis Centre across NSW in four groups of four weeks over a period of eighteen months. The project will be in Southern NSW in November 2008.

Visit the Van Against Violence website for itinerary and registration details.

The main activity of the project is free half day information forums for workers in the non government, public and private sectors who work in health, welfare and human services industries. The training will seek to increase workers capacity to respond appropriately and compassionately to someone who tells them they have been sexually assaulted.

The topics covered will be sexual assault myths and realities, impacts of sexual assault, do's and don'ts when responding to someone who has been sexually assaulted and getting help.

Further information is available on the NSW Rape Crisis Centre website.
