ANTA Provides grant to the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM) for research into Complementary Medicine

The establishment of the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM) to conduct research into complementary medicine is an exciting time for the profession. The NICM has held several stakeholder meetings and is in the process of preparing budgets and securing funding and grants to sensure they are able to continue to carry out vital complementary medicine research.

ANTA fully supports complementary medicine research and the NICM and ANTA as a preak body and stakeholder is pleased to announce that it has made available to the NICM a grant to facilitate ongoing research for the benefit of the profession.

ANTA looks forward to continiuing to support the NICM as research program progresses.

National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM)

As a result of government funding the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM) was formed in June 2007.  The formation of the first national research institute dedicated to furthering evidence based research into complementary medicine is a major step forward and promises to provide research outcomes across the complementary medicine disciplines. 

The primary aim of the NICM is to create opportunities for the researchers of the future and the dissemination of complementary information through research.  ANTA supports the establishment of NICM and Complementary Medicine research and is involved in NICM consultation and stakeholder forums.

At the forums ANTA is representing the interests of Western Herbalists, Naturopaths, Homoeopaths, Acupuncturists, Nutritionists, Remedial Massage Therapists, Chinese Herbalists, Aromatherapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda practitioners.

Information and outcomes resulting from the forums will be communicated to members via the ANTA website www.anta.com.au and ANTA e-News.
